Catering Serving Model Configuration

Overview

Catering serving suggestions show customers portion guidance during checkout — the "Got enough for the group?" prompt, based on how much they have ordered for their party size. As a brand manager, you control whether these suggestions appear and which warnings are shown.

With catering serving suggestions, you can:

  • Turn serving suggestions on or off for your brand.
  • Choose whether to show overage warnings (the customer ordered more than recommended), underage warnings (not enough), or both.

The feature is off by default. No brand sees it until you enable it.

How to Configure

In Management Center, go to Configurations > Menu and scroll to the Catering Serving Suggestions section at the bottom of the page.

Toggle Default Description
Catering serving suggestions Off Master toggle that enables the "Got enough for the group?" feature in the web app.
Show overage warnings On Shows a warning when the customer ordered more than recommended.
Show underage warnings On Shows a warning when the customer ordered less than recommended.

The overage and underage warning toggles appear only when the master Catering serving suggestions toggle is on.

FAQ

Will this change anything for brands already using catering?

No. The master toggle is off by default, so no existing brand sees a change in behavior until someone enables it in Management Center.

What does the feature show the customer?

When it is enabled, the web app compares each catering product's recommended serving range against the party size. If the ordered quantity would feed too many people (overage) or not enough (underage), a suggestion appears before checkout.

Can I show only shortage warnings and hide the overage warning?

Yes.

To show only shortage warnings, turn on the master Catering serving suggestions toggle, turn off Show overage warnings, and leave Show underage warnings on.
