PAR POS v5.16 New Features Quick Reference Guide

This document will guide you through the enablement of new features included in the v5.16 Software Release. For detailed descriptions or instructions on the features, refer to v5.16 Release Notes.

Admin Portal/Settings Editor

What is the feature? What does it do? What steps do I take to enable it?
Language Localization – French First (BRNK-41758) Allows enabling the French language for all System Screens, Prompts, Error Messages, Receipts, and Register Generated Reports. Can also update the Admin Portal to show in French as well.
  1. Log in to Admin Portal, expand Configuration
  2. Select Settings Editor
  3. Select Options
  4. Select Locations
  5. Select the General tab
  6. Select Language
  7. Select French, Canada
  8. Save and Publish changes

Change the language on the Admin Portal:
On the same screen where the User Name and Password are entered to log in, there is a new language drop-down.
  1. Click the language drop-down
  2. Click French
Sort Drive-Thru Orders by Send Time (BRNK-58324) Adds the ability to sort Drive-Thru orders by Send Time. This means the orders in the drive-thru can be sent in the order in which they were sent to the kitchen. This will help dual-lane Drive-Thru orders align more accurately with the sequence of vehicles at the payment and pickup windows.
  1. Log in to Admin Portal, expand Configuration
  2. Select Settings Editor
  3. Select Lanes
  4. Select the Drive-Thru lane
  5. Select the Order Send Time drop-down
  6. Select Order Send Time
  7. Select OK
  8. Save and Publish changes
Auto Numbering Support for Combos and Combo Components (ASI-3197) This update corrects the way Auto Numbering works with Combos and Combo components. Keeps numbering behavior consistent across receipts, kitchen chits, and order lists. This feature does not require enablement and will be available on all servers running 5.16 or above.
Part 2 of Hot Reload Capability (BRNK-59197) Additional configuration changes will no longer require a restart of the POS. The following entities have been added:

Enable Looping of Macro Button Behaviors (BRNK-60882) Adds the ability to use the Quantity and Repeat button behaviors with Macros, when used with button behaviors:
  • Order Item
  • Order Modifier
  • Order Menu Item
 This feature does not require enablement and will be available on all servers running 5.16 or above.
'Type to Confirm' Added to Changeset Package Dialog (BRNK-60877) When publishing changesets, there is an additional pop-up that was added once you press the Submit button, if you are publishing to more than 1 location. This streamlines the review process to make it easier to prevent sending changes to the wrong locations. This feature does not require enablement and will be available on all servers running 5.16 or above.

Available 24/7, it reduces reliance on support, accelerates staff training, and delivers consistent, accurate guidance – helping teams save time and stay focused on delivering great customer experiences. This feature does not require enablement and will be available on all servers running 5.16 or above.

Kitchen

What is the feature? What does it do? What steps do I take to enable it?
Additional Font Style Option on KDS - Strikethrough (BRNK-60596) Adds the ability to add the Strikethrough Font Style to an Item Type on the KDS. This allows kitchen staff to easily identify and manage orders, particularly for items that have been voided. 1. Log in to Admin Portal, expand Configuration
2. Select Settings Editor
3. Select Kitchen Views
4. Select a Kitchen View to edit
5. Select the Format tab
6. Select the ab box under Voided Items
7. Select OK
8. Save and Publish changes

POS/Register

What is the feature? What does it do? What steps do I take to enable it?
Register UI Isolation Part 2 (BRNK-57658) Adds the ability for Admins to deliver a more consistent and modern Register UI, improving usability and laying the groundwork for future enhancements. No enablement required. This feature is automatically applied and does not require configuration in the Admin Portal or Settings Editor.

Printing/Receipts

What is the feature? What does it do? What steps do I take to enable it?
Improve Printer Routing Configuration Flexibility (BRNK-60234) Adds the ability to reroute KDS and the associated printer at the same time. As well as allowing printer re-routes to persist at End Of Day. 1. Log in to Admin Portal, expand Configuration
2. Select Settings Editor
3. Select Layout
4. Select the desired panel
5. Create a button with the Button Behavior Reroute Printer
6. Click Configure
7. Set Persist at End of Day to Yes
8. Select OK
9. Save and Publish changes

If you already have a Reroute Printer button, you can also enable Persist at End of Day on the Register.

Rerouting the KDS and the Printer at the same time does not need enablement. This is automatic.
