PAR POS™ Release Readiness Requirements

What?

PAR Technology is bringing you a better, more scalable product with upcoming PAR POS releases.

To ensure uninterrupted connectivity to PAR POS and its enhanced offerings, please ensure that you are compliant with the following settings:

  1. All PAR POS traffic should be sent from the location directly, without being filtered through any VPN or other traffic filtering service.
  2. All communication ports should be whitelisted as "TCP bidirectional" (not HTTP or HTTPS).
  3. DNS Time to Leave (TTLs) on your routers should be set to the minimum for PAR POS traffic, as our Load Balancers often scale up and down triggering IP changes.
  4. For the lowest chance of service interruption due to stale DNS queries, we recommend using Google public DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

NOTE: Traffic to the PAR POS cloud is always encrypted, tokenized, or obfuscated. Adding or enabling unnecessary security filtering or rules may degrade your ability to use cloud-based functionality.

When?

To ensure a smooth transition to POS upgrade versions, these steps must be completed as soon as possible prior to any new software upgrades.
